Tim Criswell, owner of the House of Reptiles shop in Tigard has volunteered to take care of the gator for a few years. The 30-inch-long, black and yellow gator is now sharing a 6-foot-wide tub with another young alligator at Criswell's store.
Animal control officers, who captured the alligator last week, believe it was cast off by people who illegally had it as a pet. The reptile is less than a year old, and officials think it probably would have died during the winter. The Alligator has now been transfered to The Oregon Reptileman to be used for educational programs.
